WHAT WE TEACH
We prepare our students to become independent, productive, responsible and creative individuals capable of making original contributions to society. Four basic premises drive our academic program:
•1.
Learning should have some connection to real-world endeavors.
Students should emulate the practices and habits of thought of eminent innovators and creators.
•2.
The fundamental activity of a scholar is problem-solving.
Academic investigation and challenge are focal elements of the curriculum.
•3.
Student groupings are organized to promote appropriate challenges for all learners.
Fluid ability groupings allow children to learn with their intellectual peers, while still enjoying interaction with children their own age.
•4.
The instructional program is designed for the needs of highly gifted children.
The curriculum is accelerated, interdisciplinary, and formulated around broad thematic concepts. Shared inquiry, problem-based learning, and Socratic dialogue are significant strategies used in our classrooms.
